CHRISTMAS DAY FLOW FOR A CAUSE | H.O.P.E’s Kitchen

December 25th, 2020

1-2 p.m

Location:  In Your Home, Zoom

Join me Christmas Day for an all levels flow for a good cause. I first heard about H.O.P.E’s (HELP Other People Eat) kitchen operating in North Bay on the news one evening. The owners turned their restaurant into an outreach community centre for the homeless and anyone in need. They supply a warm place to shelter from cold (socially distanced), warm meals, water, coffee and provide clothing, toiletries and use of a bathroom. The owners have exhausted all of their personal funds and are now renovating a larger space to accommodate the growing need for support. They are not currently receiving government support but will soon be registering as a charity. Ever since I saw the the story on CTV featuring owners and how they are contributing to their community I wanted to help. My goal is to raise $500 CAN for Hope’s kitchen.

Andrea Robertson

Return to Light | Winter Solstice Practice

Sunday Dec 20th 7:30-8:30 p.m

Location:  In Your Home, Zoom

Cost $15

The shortest day of the year marks a rebirth of the Sun. The new solar year is upon us as the Earth begins her to tilt back toward the Sun, signifying the completion of another life cycle before the emergence of spring. For thousands of years the Winter Solstice has been celebrated around the world—acknowledging the shortest day of the year as a return to light, a return to innocence; a rebirth along the wheel of life as the great world continues to spin. By setting intentions at the Winter Solstice, we can clarify them during Capricorn season and beyond. As we lay out the framework for our plans, we are building a path that lights the way through the darkness of winter and guides us toward our brightest future. Through continued refinement of our goals, a willingness to understand that mistakes will be made, and that we may need to change course along the way, intentions are little stepping stones that lead us like a compass toward our highest potential. An intention is the starting point of a dream; what makes the unconscious conscious. It is the creative power that fulfills our heart’s desires, be it career or relationships, money or material things, personal or spiritual ascension. In essence, an intention is an epiphany in action. A-ha!  Activate your intentions for the new year by turning inward and awakening your inner fire; by learning to see in the proverbial dark. Think of the Winter Solstice as the fourth and final movement of your 2020 life-symphony. Synchronize your breath to movement that’s strong and intuitive. Go slowly, and let go of what no longer serves you so that you may clear the slate for all that is coming your way.

Join Andrea Robertson as we welcome the return of the light. Detoxify the body and mind through dynamic vinyasa flow that includes cleansing breath work, deep twists, inversions and, of course, some sweat, we will bring balance with yin poses and stillness. Let’s celebrate the light and reawaken with Andrea.  Please bring a journal and pen.

Andrea began practicing the physical practice of yoga in her early 20′s as a means to open her tight overworked muscles after years of training marathons, adventure races and triathlons. Her first experience with yoga lit up her life and offered a method of training in a new way. Her practice continues to evolve by drawing inspiration from many different forms of yoga particularly Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin and Power. She is known for combining strength and power with softness and fluid motion in a creative flow wrapped together with a little yoga humour. All while instilling the importance of proper alignment and smart sequencing to create a balanced practice with both Yin/Yang

Andrea completed her first 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training in 2004 at a summer intensive program in Ottawa led by Yogi Vishva-Ji. Andrea has taken numerous workshops and trainings over the years but has learned the most from her ever growing students and is currently teaches around the Ottawa community. Andrea’s classes cater for a wide-range of students and include instruction for corporate clients, Pure Yoga Ottawa, and Ottawa South Community Centre. Her specialty class is Yoga For Athletes, she taught for the Ottawa Senators for 6 years. One of Andrea main passions is travelling and facilitating adventurous therapeutic yoga retreats around the world from Costa Rica to Ireland, Italy, Spain, Hawaii, Greece and some in Canada. Her intention is always to provide a fresh creative class geared specifically to her students at hand. Andrea completed her first YogaDVD “Yoga for Runners” (2010), and is a Lululemon Athletica ambassador (2010-present). City Of Om Yoga Festival

Saturday June 1st

Teacher: Andrea Robertson
Time: 3:30PM – 4:30PM
Location: Aberdeen Pavillion

Have you heard of chakras? Curious about what they are and how they affect daily life? Love moving to live music? This class is for YOU!! The result of this work will help you become more aware of how energy affects your thoughts, emotions and body, and it will offer you practical ways to bring your inner and outer world into harmony. Take a tour through the chakras with Ottawa Yoga Instructor Andrea Robertson and musical guest Mateo Monk-musician, poet and mystic. In this class, the focus is on awakening these various chakras in the body, working from the root up to the crown. The deep stretch with each yoga pose helps to create openings in clearing blocks for easy flow of oxygen (prana)  allowing the various chakras to do their respective work. The yoga sequence uses poses from the intermediate level moving slowly towards dynamic yoga poses. Once each chakra is cleared and able to function, the entire physical body is in balance, leading to better spiritual stability. This class will be a mix of Yin, Kundalini, Power, Hatha and meditation. We will be still, slow moving,  fast paced with dynamic flow, active breathe work.

*You must love music, moving, dancing and stillness to enjoy!
